| Dylan
(formerly Frankie's kit)
Here are some pictures of Dylan (Frankie's kitten) exploring his new home the day he arrived.
He is absolutely adorable and I'm totally besotted with him. He's feisty and fearless and has a go at everything. This is the kitten with the 'wobbly legs' who we thought might not be able to jump! He can certainly jump, although his landings are a little unusual. He never seems to hurt himself though, thankfully. He's still wobbly on his long legs and falls over sometimes but I've got so used to it, it's just Dylan. I've got untippable bowls as he knocks them over if he's playing and crashes into them. I've discovered that if I put his water in a clear, see through container he can see the level and drink it more easily, he always puts his paw in first and
splashes it about, then has a drink. When it was in patterned containers he didn't seem to see where the water was.
Here's a brief resume of his time so far:
Days 1 - 8, stayed in 'safe room' (bathroom) and explored main room when I was here. Had brief meetings with India (my 11 year old cat) towards end - initially he hissed at her and she purred, then it changed to her hissing at him, now she hisses but only when he gets too boisterous and leaps onto her tail (which is very fluffy)! I think she's teaching him how to play safely. She's beginning to invite him to chase her sometimes now. He has masses of toys to play with but his favourite one is India!
Day 1 (3rd August) - jumped into bath via pack of toilet rolls and played with balls in there. Asked to be lifted out.
Day 2 (4th August) - Jumped into bath to play and I left him there and went to get him out before I went out only to find he'd got himself out and was asleep in his bed!
Day 4 (6th August) - greeted me in he morning, purring with tail up, eager to demonstrate how he jumped into and out of the bath with a paper ball in his mouth.
Day 8 (11th August) - allowed out of safe room and able to explore a new room (bedroom) and tackle the stairs. Under supervision, able to slowly go up stairs, a bit unsteady coming down and I had to make him go slower. Slept on my bed for the first time.
Day 9 (12th August) I bumped into Jackie, who'd done my home visit 3 weeks earlier, and she came up and met Dylan and he showed off for her.
20th August - discovered he could get under the duvet and run round under there! (I have to get out of bed when that happens!) Also hides under bed and pounces on passing human or cat legs!
21st August - went up the curtains for the first time and did somersaults on the bed. Also managed to jump from bed onto windowsill (about 2ft high) for first time.
As you can tell, Dylan is delightful and is thriving in his new home. I'm so happy to have him and am thoroughly enjoying him.
I'm very happy to hear that his mum, Frankie has found a nice home, I saw her on the web page and hoped it wouldn't take long.
Thank you so much for giving me Dylan, he's a much loved cat. I think you all do fantastic work.
I'll send you updates on his progress and more pics as he grows.
Best wishes
Caroline
