Flashheart (formerly Medway)

Hello there,

Thought we would send you an email about how Medway is doing. First of all, he has had a name change! He's now Flashheart, after Rik Mayall's bolshy character in the Blackadder series (one of our favourite sitcoms).

We adopted him in mid-January. When we got him home, he seemed really pleased and excited to suddenly have so much more space than he'd been used to, and did a quick tour round the 'safe room', out into the hall, into the kitchen, and then back again. He rubbed against our
legs, which we thought was really lovely - it was though he was saying a thank you. There are only a couple more rooms to our flat and he had a look all over those the next day. We tried with the safe room thing but he seemed so large and so confident that it seemed a shame to pen him in.

After a week, he started gazing forlornly out of the window at all the space outside. It was lovely to let him out to explore the garden after a month, although quite scary because I was worried he wouldn't come back. After about an hour and a half, back he came from his cat
adventures, showing us that he does like living here!

Our slightly scratched sofa and the smaller cats outside may not agree, but we think he's a brilliant cat. He's very affectionate, very sociable, and does very graceful pirouettes all round the front room whilst chasing his tail. When David was laid up for two weeks with a
broken collarbone, Flashheart sat on his bed with him all day almost everyday - like a cat version of Greyfriars Bobbie!

Anyway, we want to say thanks to you for our lovely cat. There's some photos attached of him in his new home.

Best wishes,

Anna and David
