Roxy (formerly Scoot)
We adopted Scoot from you almost a month ago and I thought I'd drop you an e-mail to let you know how she's doing. Well, for a start she prefers to be known as Roxy nowadays (or Roxana/Roxalinda or, sometimes, Roxanella - depending on the degree of naughtiness she's getting up to at the precise moment in time). You may recall that she was a bit overweight when she came to live with us and you will be glad to hear that this is no longer the case - she's getting a lot of exercise these days (well, someone has to defend the territory against the neighbour's cat, kill the flies, chase the bumblebees and give the birds menacing looks).
She has also developed a taste for Felix chunks in gravy but doesn't overindulge. She's a lovely cat although not overgenerous with her affection - so far I am her favourite: she purrs to me for half an hour in the morning and most of the nights allows me to share the pillow
(if she thinks I'm taking up more than my fair share, she will kick or box me with her paw and who am I to argue?). Brett, who seems to be far more desperate for her attention, is occasionally allowed to pat her or scratch her head if I'm not around.
We've had some teething problems - she still seems to think that sofas are just super-sized scratching posts.
Her attitude has definitely improved since we've let her use the garden. She also does not like being picked up or hugged (once again, she will let me hold her for a minute or so, but she will try to struggle free if Brett picks her
up!).
best regards,
Alex
