Teddy and Mouse (formerly Jaffa and Cake)

UPDATE 2: Unfortunately, Teddy passed away in October, after very quickly developing pancreatic cancer. Mouse is settling down to a life as a single cat, and loves nothing more than playing with something on a stick.

UPDATE 1: Hi guys - it's Teddy here again. Well, I said I'd let you know when Mouse was out and about... here are some pics to show how well she's doing. I know Mum was worried that I was being horrid to Mouse, but everything has settled down now and we're mates most of the time. This is the first day that Mouse has been chilled out enough to sprawl with me in my favourite sleeping spot, at the top of the stairs.

We've both been to the vet this week although I screamed all the way there in the car, just to make the point that being shut in a carrier is no fun. The vet says I have to lose 2 kilos in weight... but I LOVE the new obesity food mum got for me. And Mouse loves it too, even though she doesn't need it.

Please would you thank Hema for finding us this home: apart from the horrid visit to the vet, it's really nice here. After another week or so, we'll be allowed out into the garden which will be so exciting!

If you want to see more of us, just check out our website! We're very clever cats!

lots of love

Hi guys - it's Teddy here! (I was called Jaffa and my pal was called Cake.) Well, it's been a week since we came home, so I thought you'd like to hear how we're getting on. I'm loving it!

Here I am going a bit bonkers with the catnip cigar mum bought me!

I came out of my quiet room at the weekend, and mum says I've become a very bold boy. I love exploring, especially for food. The fridge door has to be shut sharpish when I'm around as I love trying to get inside to sort stuff out.

I have a purr like a motorboat, and now that I feel safe, I've started to chat… Mum says that for such a big boy I have a crazy high pitched mew, more like a kitten!

Last night I had the run of the house for the first time, and I spent it with Mum on a lovely snuggly duvet. I had to get her up at 0545 as I was hungry, but once she'd fed me, I let her snooze for another hour. I kept watch over her from the top of the chest of drawers.

Mouse is still very scared, but on advice from a cat behaviourist, Mum leaves the door of the quiet room open at night so that she can explore a limited number of rooms. She came out last night, but she's not ready to keep company yet. When Mum's at home, she gets fed a tiny amount of tasty snack from the end of a wooden spoon… she's hiding under a chair in the quiet room.

Thank you so much for looking after us when we were with you… sorry we weren't very sociable, but it was all a bit scary for us. But we really really appreciate all the care you gave us.

I'll write again when Mouse is out and about.
Lots of love
