Special cats: 16th September 2007

Here's where we list cats that might need a little bit more care and attention than our normal pusses. They might need a pill every day, they might be slightly disabled, or they might have had some bad experiences and need some patience before they come out of themselves. Not all of these cats are in the Centre; we put some in foster care to make their lives a bit easier. If you want to meet one of our foster cats, call the Centre on 020 7272 6048 and we can arrange a meeting.

16th September 2007

Meet four of our special cats, Disco, Raphael, Janice and Max. We do have other special cats that are looking for loving homes, so do get in touch if you can offer a little extra time and affection.

Hi! We're Disco (grey and white) and Raphael (black and white) two very lovely boys, 1 and 6 years old.  We are the best of friends and are  like brothers, we really love each other.

We love to scoot up to you and snuggle on the couch or in bed. We like to play hide and seek and even hug each other too. We've been through a pretty rough time (I (Raphael) suffered some severe mouth trauma in his past and so doesn't have total control of his tongue which is why my face looks a little grubby as I can't clean it myself that easily) but there isn't the slightest bit of aggression in us, just tons of love that we need to give to someone! We've only been living together for a couple months but now we're inseparable. We're playful, fun and energetic. We're not at all shy and we'll come and say hello, whoever you might be. We guarantee we could make anyone happy and put a smile on your face.

You really wouldn't know it from spending time with us but the reason we're special is that we both have feline leukaemia, which means we may not live a long life like other cats. We're perfectly normal and feel great but we could get sick easily and our bodies might not be able to fight it off. We hope our shortened life expectancy won't put you off giving us a home. We'd really love to make someone happy. We'd be perfect for you if you don't have a garden or outdoor space as we can't go outside.

If you think that you could offer us a great place to live and the love that we need we can guarantee that you won't be disappointed! We are two great boys and will be the perfect addition to your family.

Please give the centre a call if you think you could be the special family we're looking for.

Hi, I'm Janice, a gentle tabby girl, aged about 5 years. I'm looking for a new home with a garden (as you can see, I enjoy the sunshine!). I love company so if you like giving and receiving affection I'm the cat for you! I would prefer to have all your attention but I could live with other cats too. I'm special because I have gingivitis. This hasn't responded to my improved diet and so I need monthly injections from a vet. The good news is my fosterers tell me these injections are inexpensive. I'm such a loving cat - could you be the owner I'm looking for?

What a pretty girl!

Basking in the sun..
Hello my name is Max. As you can see I’m a very handsome Burmese and I certainly live up to the reputation of Burmese cats as a sociable, affectionate and loyal friend.

I have a really unique personality – I am never aggressive, I’m friendly with everyone. I’m also intelligent, gentle and loving.. I don’t even scratch the furniture! And I LOVE cuddles - being near you just isn’t good enough, I like to be ON you! I’ll follow you around the house to be in your company and if you look like you’re not doing anything for even a moment I’ll paw your leg for a cuddle, but one look at my cute furry face and you won’t be able to resist. Sit down for a second and I’ll be there, ready to jump on your lap. I also like to lick you, but it’s a sign of affection! I would ideally need an owner who was home the majority of the day, as I really do thrive with human company and can get bored and lonely on my own.

I don’t really like loud noises or people shouting but I’m not bothered by a room full of people, to be honest it increases the chances of getting a cuddle. I like nothing better than being in a cosy warm bed and I’m quite happy to fall asleep curled up on you. I could be friendly with another Burmese and share your hugs with him or her. I’m quite good at pretending that I can’t jump very far so that you’ll lift me up but if it involves jumping on your lap or even on your bed I can be surprisingly agile!

I used to have diabetes, so now I'm a little more likely to develop it again than some other cats. That's why I'm looking for a caring and stress free environment. Please talk to the staff at the centre if you are considering adopting me and they will tell you more about me.

If you take me home with you I won’t be just a pet, I’ll be a true member of your family.

By the way, did I mention I like cuddles?!

Max xx
